Loyalists of former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who recently announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have been described as bad Cholesterol that had to go for the party to enjoy good health.
The Chairman of the State’s PDP Campaign Council, Dr Eddy Olafeso said this in Akure on Wednesday during the Campaign Committe inauguration Ceremony, performed by Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, being the National Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council for Ondo State Gubernatorial election.
Olafeso, who was inaugurated along other 567 members of the committee at a well attended event, held at the PDP secretariat in Akure, said the party had to be relived of unhealthy weight, hence those who represent Cholesterol in the party had to go and they are gone.
Promising to be fully dedicated to “this journey and battle” Olafeso registered his confidence, in the PDP winning the November 16 gubernatorial election, with the able support of Governors Ademola Adeleke and his Oyo State counterpart, Engineer Seyi Makinde.
” With Governors Adeleke and Engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo State behind me, I am confident Agboola Ajayi will become the third PDP governor in the Southwest in Jesus name”.he declared.
The former PDP National Vice Chairman, who was introduced to guests at the event by the Director General of the Campaign Council, Engineer Clement Faboyede, said the state is seriously yearning for a change, as it has been marched down by “selfish individuals who have ensured that our people do not get what they want in life”.
Declaring that the PDP in Ondo is back and better, Olafeso expressed optimism in the party winning the election, especially because of what he described as “the determination of our people to effect a change, because of the pain and injury unleashed on Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Also speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council for Ondo State Gubernatorial election, Adeleke, said nothing would stop the victory of His Excellency Agboola Ajayi, declaring that he has since anointed him for victory.
He said in Africa, it is difficult to defeat the incumbent, but he did it in Osun State, adding that the Osun winning formula has already been giving to the candidate to implement.
” I represent light and I have come to Ondo state, the darkness in this state will naturally give way, the God that made it possible for me in Osun will make it possible for Agbo too” he prayed.
On his part, the gubernatorial candidate, Ajayi, who acknowledged the unprecedented unity and peace in the Ondo State chapter of the PDP, thanked everyone present for their support so far, and expressed optimism that the party will win the November election.
The August gathering also observed a minute silence for the Chairman of the party, Fatai Adams, who died in February this year.
Party stalwarts who graced the event include, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, Former Deputy Governor of the State, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru , Senator Nicholas Tofowoma, Mrs Sarunmi, Chief Mrs Olubitan , Lady Lydia Olafunmiloye and Dr Kola Ademujimi among others .
