Disgruntled workers of an agency of Lagos state government, the Lagos State Command And Control Centre, are planning a big showdown with the management of the agency over their unpaid salaries.
Sources within told The page News that workers of the Agency are being owed about four months salary, necessitating their plan to slug it out with the management.
It was reliably gathered that the workers did not suspect the salary backlog will drag to about four months when the accumulation initially started, because according to one of the workers, “the impression given us was like, there was a little delay that would be sorted in no time.
” When it rolled to the second month, we became a little agitated but still felt it would be resolved soon, but sincerely, we never envisaged the system could hold back about four months salary of hardworking workers in a wealthy government like Lagos, especially in this extremely harsh economy”
Also lamenting the hardship the workers have been going through, another staff of the agency volunteered that, ” as things stand, we have been pushed to the edge and we can’t stand the hardship any longer, and right now, we are ready to use every means possible to get our pay.
” The reason we have not taken any serious action before now was the person of the our governor whom we know to be a man with human feeling. We know the Governor would not allow the agency owe us this much if he was aware of our predicament”
