Ahead of the Ondo State scheduled gubernatorial election, the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC), has recorded, yet another monumental loss, as many of its members in Ile-Oluji Ward 3 today Monday 12th August 2024, decamped to the opposition Peoples Democratic party ( PDP).
The defectors, led by Mr. Opeke Moyo (Ojulari), were all members of the APC in Ward 3, hitherto, the stronghold of the APC in Ile-Oluji. It’s also the ward of the current member of the Ondo State House of Assembly (Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo State Constituency), Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju and also the immediate past Local Government Chairman, Hon. Temidayo Akinsuroju who are all loyalists of the immediate past Commissioner for Finance in the state, Hon. Adewale Akinterinwa.
Speaking at the official party switch ceremony, the defectors affirmed that the APC has failed in many ways and are fond of “use and dump”, even as they affirmed, that the PDP is a more friendly political party, hence their reason for decamping.
Mr. Babalola Ayodeji who was one of the defectors appealed to the leaders of the PDP to give proper recognition to the new members and be attentive to their suggestions and advice, as this will encourage them to work more for the party.
Also present at the event, were some of the PDP Chieftains in Ile-Oluji, among them, Hon. (Mrs) Lovelyn Yemi-Ese, Hon. (Dr) Abiodun Henry Akintomide “Ibu Owo”. Also Mr. Akinniranye Sikiru (Asotemaru), Mr. Yemi Oyenusi (Yemi Osoko) who are executive members of the PDP in ward 3.
Hon. Mrs. Yemi-Ese while receiving the decampees on behalf of the party, appreciates the new members and assures them of equal rights in the party. She received them into the party in the name of the party’s leader, Distinguished Senator Otunba Nicholas Tofowomo who is also a member of the ward.
She thus, beseeched them to attend the PDP ward meeting for proper induction by the ward chairman.
