Dr Kola Ademujimi, a confidant, close political associate and Chief of Staff to former Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, shone like a million star on Wednesday, at the inauguration ceremony of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Campaign Council.
Following the announcement of Ademujimi as one of the leaders of the PDP present at the ceremony, the shout of doctor rented the air, while a special song composed for him was beautifully rendered.
Ademujimi is from Idanre, the same town with the PDP Candidate’s running mate, Fessywest.
The inauguration which was conducted by the Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, incidentally coincided with the announcement of some fringe associates and workers of the 2- term governor, Mimiko of their defection from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
While speaking at the PDP occasion, the Inaugurated Chairman of the Campaign Council, Dr Eddy Olafeso described the decampees as the unhealthy weight and bad Cholesterol of the PDP
Olafeso said the party had to be relived of unhealthy weight, hence those who represent bad Cholesterol in the party had to go and they are gone.
The former PDP National Vice Chairman, said the state is seriously yearning for a change, as it has been surpressed by “selfish individuals who have ensured that our people do not get what they want in life”.
Declaring that the PDP in Ondo is back and better, Olafeso expressed optimism in the party winning the election, especially because of what he described as “the determination of our people to effect a change, because of the pain and injury unleashed on Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Olafeso was introduced to guests at the event,by yet another popular follower and Mimiko’s Commissioner, Engine we r Clement Faboyede who is also the Director General of the PDP Campaign Council. His appearance on the podium attracted a great applause.
Speaking with ThePage News over the Mimiko “loyalists” report at the inauguration ground, a PDP member from Ile -Oluji, Victor Daramola said when he heard that Mimiko followers were defecting to the APC, he “expected to hear names of serious politicians with followers and votes.
” But when I saw the list of those who claimed to have defected, it contained mainly names of Mimiko’s domestic staffs and about two politicians who can’t even deliver their units with Akinjo whom we had always known to be APC member.
” I am sure you witnessed (referring to the reporter) the way people hailed and shouted excitedly, when Dr Ademujimi and Fabo were mentioned during the inauguration. Those are some of the people who made Mimiko tick in the state politically, with Otunba Tofowomo whose revolution of the state’s Transportation sector has not been matched since Mimiko left office in 2017.
” Those are the crowd pullers of the Mimiko era that we know, not those he employed as governor and have been living under his shadow ever since” Daramola submitted.
Some of the other PDP stalwarts who graced the event include, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, Former Deputy Governor of the State, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru , Senator Nicholas Tofowomo, Mrs Sarunmi, Chief Mrs Olubitan , Lady Lydia Olafunmiloye among others .
