Progressive People of YorubaLand Gets UN’s Inclusion in SIDS4

Progressive People of YorubaLand has raised a thumb up for the United Nation, UN for recognizing and inviting the foundation to the fourth edition of International Conference on Small Island and Development States, SIDS4 in its bid to develop practical and impactful solution to address SIDS specific challenges.

The international conference which will be hosted by Antigua and Barbuda, a country in the Caribbean from 27 – 30 May 2024, will for the first time be inviting a Non-governmental organization from Nigeria to be part of a gathering that will agree a bold new program for action for SIDS, with concrete, measurable, targets to support SIDS to achieve their sustainable development objectives over the next ten years.

Speaking on the International conference themed “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity” the president of the foundation, Elewiodo Kolawole revealed that it will be the most important of the decennial conference to have ever taken place where the 10 year agenda that emerges from it will need to find solutions to range of development challenges that could soon become intractable.

“It will be noted that many small Island developing states are still reeling from the multiple shocks of the global financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, threat posed by accelerating climate change among many others, the SIDS4 Conference will bring together leaders to agree on a new programme of action for SIDS with a focus on practical and impactful solutions and to forge new partnerships and cooperation at all levels” he said.

Progressive People of YorubaLand which also doubled as YorubaLand Health Charity Foundation has embarked on many initiatives to bring succor to the faces of the less privileged. Coming up on the stable of the foundation is a free medical checkup session for people living at Agege and its environs on November 11, 2023 by 12noon at 1, Powerline road, Oko-Oba, Pen-cinema, Agege. 

The session will give attention to eye, dental and other medical related checkup for both young and old is totally free and with the objective of having sick free Yoruba entity.
