Flood: Yobe First Lady Condoles With Borno As Gombe Govt Donates To Victms

Hajiya Hafsa kollere Buni,wife of  Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has condoled with her Bornu state counterpart, following the devastating flood in the Northern state.

In an emotional ladden message to the Bornu first lady, released at the weekend, the Yobe First Lady said: 

My heart goes out to my dear sister, the First Lady of Borno, and the resilient people of Borno State during this challenging and trying time following the recent devastating floods. 

The loss and devastation are deeply saddening, and horrendous. As a sister state, I stand with you all in condolence solidarity and prayer. May strength, hope, and unity guide the recovery efforts as we rebuild homes and lives. Together, we will rise above this tragedy. My thoughts and unwavering support are with every person affected . Stay strong, Borno. We are in this together” 

Meanwhile, the  Gombe State Government has donated N150 million as assistance to victims of flood disaster and terror attack in Borno and Yobe states, respectively.

Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, who made the donation at the weekend, prayed to Allah that such devastating incident should never reoccur in the history of Borno state.

Conveying the heartfelt sympathy of the governor and people of Gombe at the Government House and the Shehu of Borno’s palace in Maiduguri, the deputy governor said the visit was informed by the bond existing between the two states.

Secretary to the state government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya got the news of the devastating flood while on an official engagement outside the country but directed that he should visit in view of the friendship existing between the two neighbouring states.

Responding, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed appreciation over the concern and love shown to them in this trying time.

He also acknowledged and appreciated the donations of N100 million from Gombe state government, pledging to use it judiciously towards mitigating the effect of the flood.

The delegation also visited Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, where they donated N50 million to aid victims of the recent terror attack in Mafa in Tarmuwa Local Government and the devastating flood disaster in the state.

Dr Manassah Jatau, speaking on behalf of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in the community, calling it both sad and unfortunate.

He said the N50 million donation is to aid the state government in providing much-needed assistance to the affected victims.

Governor Buni while receiving the delegation, expressing profound appreciation for the support.

He described the visit as a demonstration of a strong bond of brotherhood and love between Gombe and Yobe states.

He stated that while the financial aid will significantly help the victims, the act of solidarity and care in such trying times will be remembered as a remarkable show of unity between the two neighbouring states.

Governor Buni noted that the donation and the visit are not only a source of immediate relief but also a lasting symbol of the friendship and cooperation between the people of Gombe and Yobe.
