Chelsea Agree €45m For  Omorodion’s Signature

It looks as if Samu Omorodion will never pull on the Atletico Madrid shirt. After Los Rojiblancos executed his €6m release clause to bring him in from Granada last summer, it appears the 20-year-old will move to Chelsea this summer.

Omorodion scored nine times in La Liga last season during a loan spell for Alaves, and was set to return as a promising option for Atletico. Now though, Chelsea have agreed a fee of €45m with Atletico for Omorodion, as per Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano.

Los Colchoneros had rejected Chelsea’s advances earlier in the summer, but after the opportunity came up to sign Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, that has changed matters. As such, the deal taking Omorodion to Chelsea will only be consummated once the Alvarez deal is.

Omorodion would be a second young striker signed from La Liga by Chelsea this summer, after Marc Guiu arrived for €6m from Barcelona. The imposing forward is currently on Olympic duty with Spain, but caused most defences issues last season, even if he was not always clinical, with his movement, power and pace.
