Man U’s Fernandes, Sancho In Shock PSG Transfer Swoop

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are plotting a shock swoop for Bruno Fernandes as they and Manchester United remain locked in transfer talks over three players, according to reports.

Premier League giants United have already been busy in the summer window and brought in Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5million.

That was followed by them splashing out £52m to Lille for 18-year-old defender Leny Yoro.

Erik ten Hag wants to strengthen his squad further and made PSG’s defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte a top target.

The 23-year-old Uruguayan international has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford side but the fee remains a sticking point.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has reportedly agreed a package with PSG to make the move in the opposite direction.

The forward had a public fallout with United manager Ten Hag last September which resulted in his exile from the squad.

He revived his career with a loan back to Borussia Dortmund – three years after his £73m move to United – and helped them to reach the Champions League final.

Dortmund opted not to make that a permanent switch which paved the way for his return to United.

After talks with Ten Hag, the England international returned to training and appeared in the fold for the upcoming season.

Now L’Equipe have offered an update on the situation, saying PSG want winger Sancho to “help replace Kylian Mbappe” after the Frenchman’s exit for Real Madrid.

But the publication also claims that they could be targeting a shock move for United captain Fernandes, a player they “really appreciate”.

Reports back in April claimed new chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe only deemed youngsters Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho as being untouchable in Ten Hag’s squad regarding player sales.

Portuguese midfielder Fernandes, 29, then dropped a big hint he could look to leave before helping United to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

He has been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia but Ten Hag is thought to be reluctant to lose the star.

But his PSG counterpart Luis Enrique has reportedly given his backing to a potential move for Fernandes and now talks are set to intensify between the two clubs over a number of deals.

And that could also involve Xavi Simons, who had looked set to join Bayern Munich.

It was reported earlier that United were ready to try to hijack Bayern’s move for Dutch ace Simons from PSG.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is currently on holiday after impressing for Holland at Euro 2024.

Simons is contracted to Paris Saint-Germain but shone on loan at RB Leipzig last season in the Bundesliga.

His performances have led to huge interest from across the continent.

It seemed Bayern Munich had won the race to sign him but now United are trying to stop that.
