Former deputy governor in Ondo state and People’s Democratic Party’s aspirant in the approaching November 2024 gubernatorial election, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has posited that the PDP is the only people oriented party with solutions to the lingering problem of governance in the state.
Speaking in the State capital, Akure on Thursday, the former Reps member said, with what have been seen of the APC government in the state so far, it has become obvious that the key to a better life for the citizens is not in their hands.
” Experience and technical know-how is key to good governance. Something can not stand on nothing. One can only give what he or she has. We know what the people of our state have witnessed and have been through under the APC government since it came on board in the state, it has become clear that they have actually compounded our problems rather than solved them”
Ajayi who submitted that one cannot succeed with governance without vision and preparation, maintained that, the PDP is the only party in the country that has demonstrated without doubt, that it has what it takes to meet the yearnings of the people.
” There are evidences to this, as we are living witnesses to what life was like in the state under the PDP and what we have now.
” That is the result of focus, empathy and love for the people and democratic ethos. Governance is about the people and government must be people friendly. That is what the PDP has been able to demonstrate in the state while it had the opportunity and we will do more if given the chance again”
Ajayi, who aims to clinch his party’s ticket to contest the November election said he won’t be assuming office unprepared considering his wealth of experience, adding that he already has a master plan of how the state could be revamped and the lives of it’s citizens made better.
“it is obvious that power needs to change hands in the state before the citizens can begin to feel the presence of government and enjoy the true dividend of democracy and that change, the PDP will effect by the grace of God” he stressed.
Registering his optimism to pick the PDP ticket, Agbo said ” since l have a focus and armed with the technical know-how of governance, I will hit the ground running and introduce some innovations that will make our state become a good point of reference, unlike what we are witnessing today”, he said.
