The Olu of Araromi Eleranigbe, Oba (Dr) Hameed Adejoro Ajijola has felicitated with the Adimula of Aworiland, Oba (Engr) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade on his second coronation anniversary as the Olofin of Isheri Awori, Ogun State.

The young and energetic monarch was crowned the 20th Olofin of Isheri land by Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun on 16th September 2021 at a colourful coronation ceremony.

Two years on, as a show of appreciation for the modest developments Oba Bamgbade has brought to the ancient town, the people of Isheri Olofin were proud and excited to roll out the drums in celebration of the two years reign of their highly revered king.

The anniversary event which was held on Saturday 16th September 2023 also saw the monarch bestowing traditional and honourary traditional titles to deserving individuals in appreciation of their contribution to the development of the town.

Among those confered with chieftaincy titles is Chief Emilio Cardoso who was honoured with the title of Bobagunte of Isheri land.

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, the Olu of Araromi Eleranigbe in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oba Hameed Ajijola expressed his delight that the Isheri monarch is gradually imprinting his legacy in the sands of time in the ancient town.

“As a friend and colleague, Oba Bamgbade has lived up to his billing as a young and dynamic monarch ever ready to impact on the lives of his people. In just two years he mounted the throne of his fore-fathers we have seen the remarkable difference.

“Now, indigenes of the town are proud to have such a remarkable monarch. He has brought youthfulness and class in governing the town. Being a young monarch, he has bedded well with the youth and their sensibilities while taking  cognizance of customs and traditions which has become the bedrock of the Olofin stool,” Oba Ajijola said.

He added: “I felicitate with him on this auspicious occasion and pray for God’s continued guidance and long life in his service to humanity especially to the people of Isheri Olofin.”

For custodians of Awori oral history, Isheri Olofin-a coastal town situated between the border line between Lagos and Ogun State is the cradle of the Aworis.

It was founded in 1425 by Olofin Ogunfunminire, the progenitor of the Awori tribe who are predominantly found in Lagos and Ogun States.  Ogunfunminire thus became the first Oba of Isheri bearing his father’s name OLOFIN as his title.

The traditional stool Olofin of Isheri, is also referred to as the Adimula of Awori Kingdoms, being the foremost Awori traditional stool both in Lagos and Ogun State.
