The governorship Candidate of Action Democratic Party, ADP, Hon Olanrewaju Kazeem Sokunbi has cautioned electorates in the state against voting for candidates who is considered to be a drunkard, gambler or drug addicts, saying that the State needs a God fearing leader, with good moral upbringing.
According to Sokunbi, Ogun residents must vote competence, and a goal getter who is ready to govern with good ethics and fear of God.
Sokunbi, who stated this while addressing journalists in Abeokuta on Sunday, insisted that even as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun and its People’s Democratic Party counterpart, Hin Ladi Adebutu continue to trade words on moral grounds, people of the State must go for candidate who has a better pedigree with capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people. He encouraged Ogun Voters to look beyond sentiments and vote for a competent leader that would drive economic growth and prosperity in the State.
According to him, the State should outgrow primordial sentiments and be able to go for the best. He indicated that the bane of societal growth is lack of moral upbringing and the will to be a good model to young ones, thereby resulting into failure to do the right thing at the right time.
“Ogun must not vote based on popularity or financial inducement. It should be purely about competence and capacity because if you don’t have a competent leader with good morals, you’re going to have the same repetition of issues and challenges.
“I believe Ogun residents should look beyond the semantics and go for ADP candidates at all level, who we believe can give us impactful leadership.
The person doesn’t have to be my relation or come from my village; let us look at the person’s antecedents and competence as the driving factor in choosing the best president,” Sokunbi said.
