The Ogun Central PDP Senatorial candidate, Chief Olumide Aderinokun, has described as baseless, reports that claimed he was convicted of fraud and imprisoned.
Chief Aderinokun, who accused the All Progressive Congress, APC’s media influencers of sponsoring the falsehood to tarnish his image, said “their malicious plans are dead on arrival.”
A report which claims that Aderinokun was imprisoned in Kirikiri prison, was circulated earlier this week. However, the Ogun Central PDP Senatorial candidate has set the records straight.
A statement by his media aide, Taiye Taiwo, titled, “Aderinokun: Ogun Central PDP Senatorial District candidate replies APC over blizzard of deception”, stated that Aderinokun who is a real estate developer, has never been convicted of any crime.
According to the statement, the PDP chieftain had a business dispute with Lagos State Government which was dragged to court and it was subsequently dismissed.“There was a business dispute between Chief Aderinokun and Lagos State Government in 2017, it was later moved to a state High Court by the Lagos State Government,” the statement read.“In the first hearing of the case, the court granted Chief Aderinokun bail and the conditions were instantly met by his sureties and he did not step into Kirikiri prison as widely reported. After further appearances in court, the case was discontinued and dismissed in the Lagos State High Court in pursuant to section 71 of the ACJI 2021 (as amended)”, the statement explained.
Taiwo reiterated that Aderinokun and the people of Ogun Central are undeterred by the malicious steps taken by the opposition to stop the people’s mandate in the forthcoming general elections. He also assured that the Owu chief would not stop putting smiles on people’s faces with his empowerment support programmes across the six local government areas in Ogun Central aimed at relieving the economic hardship in state.
