Ondo Poll: Agbo Promises Care Home For Snr Citizens, Free Education For Students.

The people’s Democratic Party’s candidate in the scheduled gubernatorial election in Ondo state, H E, Agboola Ajayi, has announced his intention to put up a welfare package for the aged in the state, even as he mentioned that primary and secondary education will be free with him in charge of the state.

Ajayi made the announcement in Lagos on Friday, at a media parley which held at Radisson Hotel, in Ikeja, being part of his campaign activities.

Reeling out his programs for the  state, Ajayi said he is concerned about how the aged in the state spend their old age.

 He said many senior  citizens now experience neglect because the children who should naturally take care of them are either unemployed or grappling with overwhelming life challenges.

 To reduce the effect of the current  economic  hardship  on the aged therefore, Ajayi registered that, a welfare package for the elderly, from the age of 70, will be instituted. This he said, may include  a home with Care facilities ,where  the senior citizens would be taken care of. The program is tagged: Better Life For The Aged  (Irorun Arugbo)

Flanked on all sides at the parley, by leaders of the Ondo state PDP, the former deputy governor,  said under his watch, primary and secondary education would be free, while the tuition fee of tertiary institutions would be heavily subsidized by his goverment.

According to the former House of Representatives member, workers welfare will be given priority in his government, declaring that workers would earn improved package adding , that salaries will not be paid later than the 24th of the month.

” Workers will be rewarded adequately in our government. There will training and retraining with an improved Civil service package.

” We will ensure workers get thier salaries every 24th of the month. This is not something that is out of place to do, because I did it before as Acting governor.”

The PDP candidate who bemoaned the terrible health delivery system in the state  under the current leadership,said he would establish a standard medical village, to ensure citizens in the state have access to quality health care.

While promising to annex the sports potentials in the state, especially in the area of swimming where he said the state has comparative advantage, Ajayi also promised to ensure an Olympic standard stadium for the Sunshine state.
