A socio-cultural group in Lagos, the Osolo Dignity has condemned allegations against the leader of the Screening Committee for the Selection of the new traditional ruler for Isolo town, Dr Mukail Agbabiaka, by a poet with the pseudo name, Aiyekooto.
In a viral audio poetry recording, Aiyekooto had levied many allegations against Dr Agbabiaka, mostly among which bothers on corruption.
Reacting to the viral audio being circulated on the Social Media, Osolo Dignity described the publication as not only malicious and baseless but was also defamatory.
Reacting via a statement signed by Olaniyi Toheeb Aregbesola on behalf of Concerned Indigenes of Isolo, operating under the name OSOLO DIGNITY, the group said it find it necessary to address this matter directly so as to caution those responsible for spreading misinformation and character assassination.
“We urge these unscrupulous individuals or groups to cease their actions immediately or face the full weight of the law,” the group said.
According to Osolo Dignity, the publication attempts to tarnish the reputation of an esteemed son of the town and current Afobaje Jagun Aluko of Isolo, Dr. Mukail Agbabiaka.
“The allegations in this publication are not only unfounded but also completely contrary to the truth. Dr. Agbabiaka has a long-standing history of service and integrity, which makes these baseless accusations even more reprehensible,” the group noted.
Osolo Dignity disclosed that before he became a member of the Isolo Afobajes, Dr. Mukail Agbabiaka had already established himself as a respected medical doctor with decades of experience.
“His career in the Lagos State Health Service is a testament to his dedication and professionalism. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, earning the respect of his colleagues and superiors, until he retired with honors after fulfilling the requisite years of active service. Far from being idle in retirement, Dr. Agbabiaka continues to contribute to the community by running his private clinic, providing essential healthcare services.
“Dr. Agbabiaka’s impeccable character and unblemished reputation are the very qualities that led to his selection as a member of the Isolo Kingmakers. His integrity is beyond reproach, and any attempt to question his suitability for this role is not only unjustified but also a blatant attempt to disrupt the traditional processes of our community,” the statement said.
The group emphasized that the process of selecting and crowning a king in Isolo follows a well-established and transparent procedure.
“This process has been carefully adhered to and remains ongoing. We have full confidence in the integrity of the process so far and believe that it will continue to unfold in accordance with our customs and traditions. We strongly urge all parties to respect these time-honored practices and to refrain from any actions that might jeopardize the peaceful and orderly selection of our next king.
“The attempt by certain individuals according to the group to malign the character of Dr. Agbabiaka is nothing more than an underhanded effort to sow discord and disrupt the harmony of our community,” the group said.
Osolo Dignity noted further that it will not tolerate any act or utterance that affect the peace and tranquility in the town, vowing to take legal action to protect the integrity of the community and its leaders.
“Let it be known that we are prepared to defend the reputation of our leaders and the sanctity of our traditional processes with all the resources at our disposal. The peace and stability of Isolo are paramount, and we will not allow the selfish interests of a few to undermine the collective well-being of our community,” the statement concluded.
