The possibility of the Peoples Democratic party’s win, in the scheduled gubernatorial election in Ondo state thickened on Sunday, as High chiefs and four prominent groups in Owo of about 500 members,of the All Progressives Congress and Labour Party executives declared for the opposition party.
Owo is the home town of the immediate past Governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), now late.
While the Labour party team was led by , Dr Olasupo Eniola, the APC groups with members drawn from Molege, Ipele axis, were led by Hon Rasheed Ogere, the immediate elder brother to the APC Chairman in Owo LG.
The Owo High Chiefs who decamped to the PDP were led
by Chief Adafin Olola Musese from Adase Iloro quarters. Muses was the chief organiser of Late Dr Orlando Owo’s band.
Of significance in the multiple defections also, was that of The Dracular boys in Owo, led by Yomi of the APC.
The Dracular boys, aka 10 boys, played a very important role in the succeses recorded by the APC in Owo before now.
The decampees promised to deliver majority of Owo votes to the PDP during the defecting excercise, which was held at the home of
foremost PDP leader,
Otunba Oyewole Fasawe.
Chairman of the Ondo State Campaign Council of the PDP, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso and the Gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi, Chairman of the Party in Ondo State, Rt Hon Bakita Bello, Clement Faboyede, Dr Ademujimi, Dr Deji Aseniserare ( Sec of the campaign council) , Lady Lydia Olafunmiloye, Hon Mrs Olubitan, Ayo Fadaka, Kennedy Peretei among others were all present at the defection event.
Speaking at the occasion , Otunba Fasewe extolled the qualities of Agboola Ajayi whom he described as a very bold man, well experienced and with the capacity to deliver in Ondo State as governor.
He implored ” the people of Ondo State to “come out fully to support and vote for the former deputy governor “vote for him and stand by your votes” Otunba Fasewe stressed.
In a similar development, in Ondo town, Otunba Oyebade Adeniran formally led his group of about 200 members to the PDP.
Adeniran, who was until recently,
the DG for Olusola Oke Campaign organisation for Ondo Central when Olusola Oke was an APC gubernatorial aspirant.
Adeniran a former US Army officer was the first man to call out the Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over his role in the controversial primary election that produced him as the flagbearer of the APC in the coming election.
The Ondo decampees were received into the PDP by H E, Agboola Ajayi and the DG of the campaign council, Clement Faboyede, Hon Ifedayo Akinsoyinu ( Director General , Central of the PDP Campaign Council), Hon Wale Williams and Hon Samuel Olowokanga among others .
