The Ese-Odo Local Goverment area of Ondo state was agog on Saturday, when thousands of the All Progressives Congress members in the LG, dumped the Party to pitch tent with the Peoples Democratic Party and it’s candidate in the state’s scheduled gubernatorial election, H E, Agboola Ajayi who is also from the LG.
While the number of defectors in Arogbo could be described as massive, that of Apoi was nothing short of overwhelming.
The PDP candidate, Ajayi, was so thrilled by the excitement of the sea of heads at the defection venues that he danced to the admiration of the decampees who hailed him endlessly.
The Apoi crowd was so overwhelming that the PDP candidate was only able to manage a wave of the hand to acknowledge and appreciate them before moving to Arogbo, where the waiting crowd sang endlessly to welcome Ajayi who also danced to the envy of the excited crowd.
Some of the decampees in Apoi who dumped the APC said they left the APC because of their desire to ensure the victory of their son, Ajayi, in the gubernatorial election.
The decampees in Apoi were led by Odofin Ayeyemi (aka kongbe) Apoi Ward 3, Omotuyole Gbenga Apoi Ward 3, Tope Egbodofo, Apoi Ward 3,
Segun Semion, Apoi Ward 1, who all denounced the APC as an unorganised Party that has no plan whatsoever to benefit the people and nation. They described the PDP as a Party that has a pedigree in governance and believe that with Agboola Ajayi as Governor, the sunn will shine again in Ondo State.
In Arogbo, Peacema Ojudor Jemine of Uprama Ward 1, was first among the many, who spoke on behalf of the defectors at the event. He lamented the disappointment members who were originally in the PDP , experienced after they decamped to the APC where he said they saw hell, hence he declared “we have returned home”
Ojudor said “I come to tell you here today,that we are back at home, “Agbo was Chairman in Ese -Odo LG, we know his capability. He did it before, he is a trusted person who will not dash our hope. Agbo will not be renewing unfulfilled hope. He will deliver”
The leader of the decampees from Arogbo Ward 3, Jimoh, while cursing their time in the APC said “if a woman does not marry two husbands, she won’t be able to identify a good one. In APC, only few people get attention, majority are neglected. Party is not done like that with Agbo, PDP must win, so that life could be better for all”
Jimoh said he decamped with 210 members from his Unit in APC to the PDP.
Arogbo Ward 3 decampees leader, Barrister Luke Mweko said ” me and my people have decided to work for the PDP. When the party was in government, life was bearable. But with this APC government, life is very tough. This Emilokan government is hardship. To eat has become problem. PDP must win in Ondo, we will spread the news “
Also, the APC Exco member and Secretary in Arogbo Ward 2 who also decamped to the PDP, submitted that in his unit, they don’t believe in money. “We will reject APC money. We know Agbo, he will get our vote, we are happy the PDP candidate is from our local government” he said.
Responding to the decampees promises, the PDP candidate, Ajayi, said his goverment will return good times to the State and the Council area in particular.
He said many of the projects he initiated and executed as member House of Representatives have been abandoned.
Warning that people should not collect money to vote, Ajayi emphasis that the PDP is the party that can liberate Ondo State , feed the people and provide security for them.
