MultiChoice Nigeria has announced Omawumi, Ric Hassani and 9ice as new judges for the ninth season of Nigerian Idol.
The judging panel which includes the iconic songstress Omawumi, R&B crooner Ric Hassani, and the legendary lyricist 9ice will be judging the talents and musical performances of all contestants gracing the stage, as well as shaping the future of music in Africa.
Omawumi, who previously served as a guest judge in Season 7, brings her wealth of experience and a decade-long career to the table. With her unique perspective and seasoned insights, she is poised to mentor and guide contestants on their musical journey.
Ric Hassani is a fresh addition to the Nigerian Idol family. With his international acclaim and genre-defying music, Ric is set to inspire contestants to embrace their individuality and chase their dreams fearlessly.
9ice, a veteran in the Nigerian music industry known for his masterful storytelling and timeless hits. With over two decades of experience, 9ice will offer invaluable advice and share the intricacies of the industry with aspiring artistes.

The trio will take over the judging panel which in previous editions had the current Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Obi Asika, songstress Simi and creative entrepreneur D’banj.
MultiChoice, Nigerian Idol S9, themed “Let Your Dreams Take Flight,” is set to premiere on April 21, with live performances kicking off on May 26, 2024.
