A socio-political organisation, the Social Rehabilitation Group ((SRG) has applauded the peaceful coexistence among religious groups in Ondo State, describing it as pivotal to socio-economic growth.

The group passed the remarks while doling out iftar refreshment worth several millions of Naira to Muslim faithful in Akure, the state capital, as disbursed by its National Convener, Dr. Marindoti Oludare, a United States-based medical practitioner.

Oludare, who was represented by Prince Demola Obadofin in the four mosques earmarked for the gesture  in the state capital, said he was enthused that Islamic religion had become more endearing through proper devotion, forbearance, and an atmosphere of love, as displayed by its adherents.

“I feel humbled to be considered worthy of doing this for my brothers and sisters in the Holy month of Ramadan, and I’m also encouraged by the prayers being offered for the peace and progress of Nigeria, and our dear state, Ondo, by the Muslim faithful who adhere strictly to the dictates of Almighty Allah.

“Without doubt, the atmosphere of peace and common determination to succeed take undeniable roots in religious tolerance and mutual love, which apparently reign in Ondo State,” he stated.

Oludare, who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), sought the cooperation of all, in support of the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, in his quest to uplift the standard of living of the masses.

He particularly remarked that the SRG had been in the forefront of groups assisting the less-privileged and ensuring human empowerment and socio-economic growth in the last two years.

“For instance, we have a coordinator in each of the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, who monitors people’s wellbeing and report back to the House, wherever there is the need for our intervention,” he disclosed.

The SRG, in its tour of Ondo State communities during ongoing Ramadan season, has been distributing food items such as semovita, wheat, rice, and other provision items, apart from cash gifts to the needy, as refreshment.
