A former Deputy Governor In Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi has urged the people of the state to make love and forgiveness their watchwords as they celebrate Easter, being the death and resurrection of Jesus christ.
Ajayi who is also an aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party in the scheduled 2004 offcycle gubernatorial election, made the plea in his Easter message, issued in Akure on Friday by Samuel Ogunmusi, the Spokesperson of the Agboola Ajayi Campaign Organisation.
Congratulating Christians in the state for ” the rare grace of being part of another Easter celebration in good health” Ajayi urged the people to make love a priority because ” it was love that made Jesus surrendered his life for the world on the cross.
” Without love there won’t be forgiveness and when we don’t forgive, progress will be difficult to achieve. Since it is love that breeds unity, only unity and love can make the people eschew all divisive, religious sentiments and rivalries which we need more at this time to move forward as a state”
He said the season should serve as a reminder of the selflessness, love, sacrifice and tolerance of Jesus Christ which he demonstrated while in the world.
“We must see this period as a time to think about how we can each help steer our state back on the road to prosperity, by working in the spirit of togetherness.”
While appealing to the people to be moderate in their celebration during this period, Ajayi counselled against drunkenness, even as he appealed to motorists to be vigilant and careful on the wheels, concluding “that it is only the living that will have the opportunity to partake in the new Ondo state that will evolve through me after you must have given me the mandate to redirect the Ship our dear state”.
