African Games: ANC Wants More Medals, Hails Athletes

The President of All Nigeria Community, Ghana Chapter, Chief Bayo Albert Asaolu has congratulated some of the athletes who have won medals so far at the ongoing All African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Asaolu, in a statement issued by Moses Owopade, media Adviser to the ANC President, said the athletes have made the nation proud in their various areas of disciplines. He also believe that more medals will be won by Nigerians.

The ANC President said he had personally watched the boys and girls and they have truly put in their best. He commended the technical teams of the All the athletes for the discipline exhibited by the athletes. “I watched our boys and girls showing serious commitment at all their events, even those who could not win medals gave good account of themselves, as we all know, this is our Olympic Games in Africa. I am truly impressed with the performances of our sports men and women.

He charged the athletes not to relent in their efforts. We have to win more medals, he said. He assured the athletes of the support from Nigerians living in Ghana.

The ANC leader also commended Ghana for standard of facilities and organisation which he has rated to be excellent. “I live in Accra here, I couldn’t imagine the edifice that has been put up at the University of Ghana Stadium. Ghana is indeed prepared”. 

He concluded by saying that, Africa should use this event to foster strong relationship among the member states on the continent. African Union should learn from this and build on the unity that the Games has offered.
