Parastatals Relocation: Okupe Hails Ndume's Loyalty To Tinubu

Two time former Presidential Spokesperson, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has responded to Senator Ali Ndume’s statement on the relocation of certain parastatals to Lagos by the Federal Government.

Okupe, through his official X account (formerly Twitter), mentioned that Ali Ndume called him, and they had a lengthy discussion about the proposed move. He tweeted, “Sen Ndume @Malindume called me & we spoke candidly for more than 30 mins. I am impressed by his disposition, candor, and loyalty to his party and Mr. President.”

“He means well, but obviously there are lapses in the Presidency that have not engendered better consultations on policies. He has my respect.”

Previously, while reacting to the planned relocation of the parastatals to Lagos, Doyin Okupe supported the move by the federal government. 

He said, “Ours is a fragile democracy, and from the first Republic to date, leaders of this nation have managed our national stability and unity with great circumspection and forbearance.”

“Our polity has not always been based on political correctness but rather, often on political expediency and prevailing power locus. For instance, why should major military installations and institutions be domiciled in the North? Or the Nigerian Port Authority and the Nigerian Customs be located in Abuja?”

“These institutions must be close to where the harbor is, but, my dear Senator, this is how we are as a people,” he added.
