Newly sworn in President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may be in for the biggest test of his Political expertise, following a move, allegedly by politicians of Northern extraction, to block his  plan to ‘own’ the leadership of the National Assembly and also determine who survives the Ministerial list screening.

If feelers reaching ThePageNews are anything to go by, there is currently an uneasy calm in the camp of the president,  over what is envisaged to be a major clash of might between the president and some powerful Northern politicians.

Sources  close to Tinubu informed that he is not comfortable with the underground scheming to hijack the leadership of the National Assembly from him.

It was gathered that though he got wind of the plan before now, he however waited patiently  to officially assume authority before taking action to neutralize moves to  hijack the leadership of NASS from him.

The move was first exposed through the demand of  the North to lead the National Assembly.

To  prevent the hijack,  our source informed, that immediately after the Monday swearing in,  the President and Femi Gbajabiamila camp allegedly send word to the Assembly by proxy,  that the original swearing in date of the legislatures has been moved from the 13  to the 6th of June.

The reason given for the reversal it was gathered, is to beat the agitators of a all North NASS leadership to their game, implement Tinubu’s list for the National Assembly and get the legislatures ready to screen theministarial list.

These, the president intends to do without any delay and obstruction from any opposing interest because according to our source ” the president wants to submit his ministerial list in no time and get the National Assembly ready for the task ahead immediately.

” The new President sure knows what he should do to make a difference, but it will be difficult to record success without his own men controlling the Assembly but  it is this control that some powergul elementd within the APC are determined to prevent to reduce the authority and power of the president”

In what has been described  as a game that may not allow the new administration take off effectively as planned, another source privy to the underground development offered that already, the Northern  elements  are  campaigning against the ‘rumoured’ June 6 date, claiming that it is unconstitutional.

According to them, inaugurating the 10th Assembly on that date will mean an incomplete tenure of the 9th Assembly.

” The agitators of the All North leadership for NASS are serious about it, and their reason is that those are the only offices that could guarantee a safe haven for the North in a Presidency led by a Southerner”

To this end, it was gathered also that, the personalities the agitators are backing for  the  Reps and Senate leadership positions are men who can negotiate with the Presidency on behalf of the North without compromising.
