A Public Health practitioner, Lion Dr Kofoworola Jegede has been declared the Pioneer Governor for District 404A-4 Nigeria for 2023- 24 Lions Year due to begin on 1st July, 2023.
Announcing the result of a voting process conducted during the 16th
Convention of Lions Clubs Multiple District 404 Nigeria held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the Multiple Council Chairperson, Lion Princess Obo Edet said all accredited delegates voted Dr Kofoworola Jegede unanimously to emerge the Governor for the new District comprising Ondo, Edo and Delta States.
While congratulating the new District Governor and her First Vice , Lion ( Prince)Monday Osadebamwen Okoro and Second Vice, Lion Robinson Omonigho-Okoro, MCC Obo Edet enjoined members of the Global Service Community in District 404A-4 Nigeria to demonstrate their unanimous mandate given to Dr Jegede by supporting her to translate all the thematic action plans of the Lions Clubs to impact communities in states within the District.
In her acceptance speech, Lion Kofoworola Jegede said having been well prepared for the job, she would ensure that District 404A-4 Nigeria becomes the pride of Multiple District 404 Nigeria and a pacesetter for other Districts.
She said: ” In the course of my transversing the Continents of the World in furtherance of the cause of Lionism, added to my numerous opportunities for trainings in the Multiple District-wide, both as Trainer and Trainee ( latest of which is my LCIP Certification as International Trainer), and being mindful of my humble contributions to attainment of goals of Past District Governors, who had given me numerous appointments over the years, I dare say that I have been privileged to acquire vast knowledge which had prepared me for the task of leadership of our new great District at the highest level”.
The pioneer District Governor said her core projects which would target the prevention of morbidity and mortality within District 404A-4 as a result of malnutrition includes: building of a Pediatric Cancer Shelter Home at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo and feeding the hungry.
At the Banquet, the Honourable Minister of State for Transport, Prince Ademola Adegoroye lauded the collaborative roles of the Lions Clubs with governments at all levels in Nigeria evidently demonstrated in Ondo State with the building of a Dialysis Centre, the remodelling and equipping of the Millennium Eye Centre, both at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.
The Minister who publicly acknowledged several invitations to him to have joined the Lions Club before now by Lion Olumuyiwa Jegede said with the calibre of personalities who are deeply involved in serving the less-privileged on the platform of the Lions Clubs, there will be no further excuse for him not to join the club.
The Honourable Minister assured that he would be on hand to welcome all lions across the country to Akure which he described as the best State Capital in Nigeria in September 2023 during the Public Presentation of Lion Dr Kofoworola Jegede as District Governor of District 404A-4.
“I have been severally invited to join the Lions Club by my dear brother, Lion Olumuyiwa Jegede on whose invitation I’m here tonight, but I had thought my engagements could bring some encumbrances but now I have realised that my membership can futher be of great advantage to my desire to serve my people.
“Therefore I will be so delighted to welcome you all to Akure the best state Capital in Nigeria in September during the Public Presentation of our dear sister, Lion Dr Kofoworola Jegede , as District Governor of District 404A-4 Nigeria “, the Honourable Minister declared.
Lion Dr Kofoworola Jegede, a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and Lions Certified Instructor, joined the Lions Club over 36Years ago. She is a retired civil servant in Ondo State and the wife of the Pioneer District Governor of the birfucated District 404A-1 Nigeria, Lion Olumuyiwa Jegede.
Several dignitaries who witnessed the 5-Day 16th Multiple District Convention which had as theme : Serving in Unity, included, former President of Nigeria , Dr Gooduck Jonathan, GCFR,GCON; the Deputy Governor of Ogun State who is a Lion member, Alhaja Noimot Salako-Oyedele ;Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Musa Bello, CON; President of Azikel Group Dr Eruani Godbless, CFR and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Mallam Mele Kyari, OFR, who was represented by an Executive Director of the Company .
