Miliki FM Exposes Security  Agents  As Angry Students Block Lagos Airport Road Over ASUU Strike

Nigerian students on Monday morning made good their threat to shut down the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos over the continued strike by the Academic Staff of Universities (ASUU). 

Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) blocked the Lagos International Airport Road along Oshodi-Oworonsoki expressway causing heavy gridlock.  There is heavy security around the airport road as the students protest defying the early morning downpour in the state. 

The gridlock resulting from  protest action shut down the Airport road inward international Airport which backlogged traffic from NAHCO to Apakun underneath the bridge.  The students are singing, dancing while carrying placards with several inscriptions decrying the 7-month old strike embarked upon by ASUU.  It was however learnt that the students were prevented from accessing their Airport terminal. 

An Airport official said the international airport is blocked to traffic, including air travellers. The students blocked the way to the terminal with their vehicles, singing solidarity songs.

An on the spot report by Lagos based radio station, Miliki 101.3 FM monitored by ThePageNews revealed that security agents and traffic controllers were conspicuously absent from the chaotic roads scenes.

 Thus making motorists take advantage of the absence of uniformed men on the  to further compound an already terrible situation by driving without any supervision  or any form of control.
