NADECO Chieftain, Ayo Opadokun has slammed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over claim that security in the country has become better under his watch.

Tinubu said this, as part of his speech, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

Reacting to the speech on an early morning  programe on African Independence Television (AIT) Kaakaki, Opadokun said the president could only have made the security claim, because he lives in Aso Rock which takes him away from the reality of the situation of the country.

Contradicting the Presidents claim, Opadokun said the Nigerian security architecture has made it difficult for the ordinary farmer to go to the farm adding that, this

does not Command respect from any reasonable people. ” How can he say security is better. That you are able  to kill Boko Haram members  is no achievement” he said.

Lamenting what he called the inability of the  President to solve the lingering problems of the country so far, Opadokun said he is disappointed because Tinubu was part of those in the trenches to flush out military rule and knew exactly what the people’s agitations were.

” You were part of us in the trenches, I expected a better performance  from him because he knows what our agitation was. That

power should be decentralized.

“I expected the FG to have taken cognisance of the agitation of the protesters  in  last #Endbad governance# protest  and take measures, but nothing has been done in this regard“

He said his group, Pronaco, had a session years before now, where a document addressing significant milestone and response to most agitations in the country, useful  for the president to reform the country and return it to regional  government of ethnic nationalities.

The document he mentioned,

provided for 18 regions, to address the balkanisation of the system by the military.

Advancing that ” today Nigeria has no national values or ethos”  Opadokun said he thought Tinubu was serious about implementing the Orasanye report, which he opined , would have also addressed some of the naughty issues confronting the country.

Imploring the President  to act fast, Opadokun said : go  back to federal structure where the centre does not dictates things.

He described the President ‘s Independence Speech as more of s proposal lacking in remedial solution. The activist insisted,  that,  Nigerians deserve a breathing space, even as he maintained that the  economy is only promoting the elite cadre to the detriment of the poor.

” It’s been promises of over one year without any significant improvement. Nigerians need employment. We are riding on the back of the tiger that may eventually consume all” he warned.

Condemning the decision of government’s provisions of Palliative, to cushion  the effect of subsidy removal,  Opadokun described it as “a  ridiculous policy to adopt”  adding, that the  minimum wage of 70,000 approved for workers is of no impact,  since Civil servants are mere  about 20 percent  of the population.

Advocating for the country’s return to Parliamentary system of government in order to reclaim it’s lost glory, Opadokun said the present system is not working.

” The  APC lied to people  that they will restructure the country. It’s even in thier constitution.

“The by camera legislature imposed on us by the military is an aberration. Let’s return to parliamentary system. The most important issue today is to return the nation back to region system where the ethnic nationalities can govern themselves”

The good governance agitator, challenged the youths to take their destiny in their hands and demand a better deal from their country and leaders.

” I  spent a lot of time in prison, but those sufferings amounts to nothing now because of the state we are.The youth should stand up to secure thier future” he said.
