Ahead of the November 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in the scheduled election, H. E. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, has revealed his intention to create a new ministry, as part of his designs to alleviate poverty and create wealth for the people of the state.
Ajayi made his intention known while addressing a Zoom parley, with party group of Ondo state indigenes in the diaspora. They called to congratulate him on his election as the PDP candidate for the election.
The Europe based group praised the PDP in the state for the “wisdom to elect an unbeatable man of the people and lover of the masses like Agbo Ajayi as the flag bearer”
Speaking through one of it’s leaders Otunba Festus Ogunsakin, the group said Ajayi’s major qualification for the ticket, beyond constitutional requirements, is his popularity, which he said ,is rooted in his profile as a grassroots politician, who grew up , lived among his people and never abandoned them at any time.
” The people of the state know him inside out. They know his ability to live up to his promises delivers always, on his mandates. The party couldn’t have made a better choice, and it’s obvious the PDP will form the next government in the state with Agbo as the flag bearer”
In his response, the PDP candidate,
thanked the group for their support. He said if elected governor, he will make the state economically inviting and irresistible to it’s citizens in the diaspora.
According to the PDP candidate, he will ensure that the state divorce it’s tag of a civil service state, by ensuring that wealth is created by individuals outside of the state capital.
“By the grace of God, this idea of saying we are a civil service state will change, because we are going to create the enabling environment for entrepreneurs, especially the youth, to spring up in every part of the state.
” People won’t need to migrate to Akure to work before they can make money again. Our youths will be encouraged to do business where ever they are resident within the state. Those with viable business ideas will be encouraged. As a matter of fact, there will be a special ministry for Empowerment, strictly for this purpose” Agbo said.
He concluded his speech at the parley, saying, details of his program will be made available to all of the groups in the diaspora linked to the state irrespective of party affiliations.
According to the PDP Candidate, he intends “to do this, to convince even people outside of our party, that we know what we are coming to do and that the PDP is determined to change the story of our state for the best.
” No doubt,we have what it takes to live a better life in Ondo state, but the expertise to annex the potentials is what is lacking and that’s exactly the missing link we are coming to supply” Agbo reiterated.
