Contrary to claims by the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, some youths in the region under the aegis of Progressive Northern Youth Forum, PNYF, have said President Bola Tinubu will receive massive support from the region in 2027.
National president of the group, Isah Usman Jabbi, stated this on Tuesday when the youths drawn from the 19 Northern states converged in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for a two-day conference to deliberate on the state of the nation.
Recalls that the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, earlier in the month, said Nigerians in the region regretted voting for Tinubu in the 2023 election.
The spokesman of the forum, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, who made the claim in an interview with Guardian, said such mistakes will not be repeated in the next general elections.
Reacting to the claim, the youth group said on Tuesday that the elders were not speaking for the entire northerners.
Jabbi said, “PNYF members reviewed the utterances of such leaders and concluded that at no time were they mandated to speak for the 19 Northern States, which makes their assertions null and void within the context of contemporary Nigeria.
“The northern region will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if he seeks reelection in 2027, and the north will vote massively for him. “
