Some Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the release of the full list of Ministers’ portfolios by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The list containing the portfolios for all 46 Ministers has continued to stir reactions on social media.
According to the list, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, will serve as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The former governor of Jigawa state, Mohammed Badaru, will serve as the Minister of Defense, while others were also assigned to their respective ministerial positions.
Some Nigerians have, however, taken to social media to query the president about his choice regarding the portfolios assigned to some of the Ministers.
Reacting to the development on X (formerly Twitter) Victor_Terhemba wrote, “Please, what is Festus Keyamo looking for in the Ministry of Aviation? What propaganda does Dele Alake want to be cooking from the Ministry of Mines and Steel? What does Mattawale know about Defense when he could not defend Zamfara against bandits? Atiku Bagudu for Budget? 🤣🤣
Another user, @Khaleephajibreel Tweeted, “I’ve never lost faith in Nigeria like I do now. They said Tinubu is talented at assembling the best team possible to work with him, but when I went through the list, I discovered his plan isn’t to rescue this nation; all his plans are for the 2027 election. We’re are in a mess!”
“I’m starting to believe the President has no plan for the North if not how can Matawalle be a State Minister for Defense, someone bandits almost took over his state under his watch” @AbdullahiAbba_ opined.
@Borellisx wrote, “Bello Mattawale. a man who couldn’t safeguard his state of zamfara. Welcome to the circus where clowns are in charge of security.
Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, said Tinubu should not have appointed a politician as the Defence Minister.
Sani noted that the ministry should have been given to a retired military officer with records of accomplishments.
Tweeting, Sani wrote: “In view of the security challenges faced by this country, I thought the Defence Minister should be a retired Military officer with experience and records of accomplishments.
“That office shouldn’t be just political, especially at this time.”
In a contrary opinion, @SherifUsman 7 who hailed the President over the development wrote, “I repeat this is the most active president in the history of Nigeria.”
Supporting his stand, @deinamayaki tweeted, “I like the portfolio arrangement. They have meaning. Let’s see how it goes.”
