Group Accuses Labour Party National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, of Anti-party Activities

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party has been accused of engaging in anti-party activities as the 2023 general elections beckons.

The group specifically identified Mr. Abayomi Arabambi as the national officer who has abused the privilege of his office to build an enterprise and political patronage around it.

The group, “Obidients Movement Lagos Chapter” in a statement made available to the media after it’s stakeholders meeting over the weekend and signed by it’s coordinator and secretary, Mr Femi Collins and Desmond Onyeagocha respectively, said the group and other party members were shocked at the treacherous acts of the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Arabambi.

It will be recalled that the group had few days ago indicted both Abayomi Arabambi and the national legal adviser, Barr Akingbade Oyelekan of undue interference in the activities of the party in Lagos State, causing disaffection and crisis among members.

The statement reads further:

“The Obidients Movement Lagos Chapter is again using this medium to convey our utter shock at the clandestine activities of the National Publicity Secretary of our party, Mr Abayomi Arabambi, who has not only abused the privilege of his office, but is actually working with the opposition All Progressives Congress APC to whittle down the influence of his own party”.

“We have it on good authority that Arabambi is in concert with APC leaders to ensure that the LP does not have candidates in Lagos and even in Ogun State. As at today, the initial challenges we had in filing our candidates with INEC began with the nonchalance of Arabambi and his cohorts in ensuring due process in the nominations”.

According to the group, “When we approached the courts to get our candidates names into INEC, we again met the hand of Arabambi in concert with certain APC stalwarts, trying to frustrate the judicial processes. It is imperative to note that he played the same card in Ogun State and as we speak, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the party there, Mr. Kehinde Sogunle, is battling to get his ticket through the court; after Arabambi had muddled up his nomination to INEC.

“It is more confounding to note that Arabambi was part of a so-called IPAC executive that went to endorse the incumbent governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, few weeks back, while it is also not a coincidence that Arabambi maintains a free accomodation at MITROS Suites, a guest house belonging to the Ogun State government, for over four months running; and regularly seen in covert meetings with ACP state officials in late hours of the night”.

The group in the statement, asked what the interest of Arabambi is in the candidates in these states, noting that he has abdicated his primary responsibility of promoting the LP and engaging the ruling party in their policies and programmes; but rather, betrayed his party and trading it for money by intervening in the processes of the party, especially as relates to candidates and INEC; while assuring APC agents that the LP will not have candidates in Lagos and Ogun States. In its appeal to the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure and the Presidential Candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, the group urged them to call Arabambi to order before he uses his selfish desires to destroy the goodwill and fortunes of the party.“We appeal, for the umpteenth time, to our national chairman to rein in his publicity secretary to hands off all matters that concerns the Lagos chapter of the party forthwith. We make bold to say, without any equivocation, that Abayomi Arabambi is a verified agent and mole of APC inside the NWC of the LP”.Continuing, “Clearly, Arabambi is a threat to the peace, unity and progress of the party in Lagos State; and we will not watch him deny our candidates representation at the polls”.“The national Chairman must act now, be decisive, and save the integrity of the national executive and the destiny of the party in both Lagos and Ogun State”. The group added.
